If you’re anything like me, you’re sick and tired of the preschool germ pit and constant bouts of colds. I’ve got 2 littles in preschool these days and the cycle of nursing one of them back to health only for the other one to come down with the same cold it exhausting!
A few years ago, I found myself going down the “anything to kick a cold” rabbit hole late one night and stumbled upon detox baths. I gave it a shot and have thanked my lucky stars ever since! Detox baths are amazing and have helped every single time for us. Its safe and natural and in my experience always helps to kick a cold, fast.
Now before I dish out my tried and true detox bath recipe, I want to remind you to use common sense when dealing with health….. especially the health of your littles. In our house, we strive to tackle health concerns with natural medicine first. But there is a time and place for modern medicine. This information should not replace professional advice from a qualified medical practitioner.
Detox Bath Recipe
- 1 cup Epsom Salt *
- 4 tablespoons Baking Soda*
- 2-4 drops Essential Oils- I like to use Rosemary, Juniper Berry, and Lavender. I also love doTERRA’s essential oil blends like Breathe and Onguard. *
*cut recipe in half for children
Directions
It would best if you use filtered water. But do the best you can with what you have. Fill the tub halfway full with warm water and add epsom salt and baking soda. Stir with your hand to dissolve. Add essential oils right before getting in. Soak for 15-20 minutes. Use dim lights and allow your body and mind to rest.
We aim to do a detox bath at lease once a day while battling a cold. But we also do them preventatively once a week when healthy. My littles love the extra time they get to play in the water.
